Dear Mom

Dear Mom,

Please refrain from using the new microwave. We'd like for it to last at least 3 months.

Thanks, the Fam
Anna found out that she made it to the second round of the application process for a summer internship with the hospital! We are starting to think of hard questions to get her ready for her interview.Anna didn't sign up for chorus next year and she's going to be out of town for the concert in May so last night was her last concert! This was the "Okay fine, I'll smile for the picture, but hurry up because I was supposed to be there 5 minutes ago" We love Anna, but let's not over look the fashion no-no.. black dress and brown purse! She must've been in a hurry because Anna doesn't even wear black and khaki together (we're still trying to convince her that it's okay to wear them together)

Thanks for dinner, but you broke the microwave

We eat dinner together every night and tonight Mom was telling Ben that it takes hard work to get rich. Ben's life goal is to hit Wall Street in 5 years and retire by about 35. We found a new setting on the camera... panoramic shots!
We JUST got a new microwave a couple of months ago because Mom broke the other one (who puts a crock pot in microwave anyways??) And right before dinner, Mom was heating up the food and it died..What should we do? Fix it? Return it? Did we keep the receipt? Can the receipt be found? Stay tuned!

Dad on the Loose

Dad, Ben & Kaitlin opened the pool last Saturday. It's early in the year, but Dad was starting to think the pool might have a leak. It doesn't seem to have a leak, but now that it's open Dad is back to business!! Trips to the pool store, dusting off the pool boy, vaccuming.......obsessing about the pool. Which means a whole lot more chores around the house, but it's nice to look out and see pretty blue water instead of the black tarp that covers it during the Winter. We've been doing some yard work today. Mom wanted the tree trimmed and when Dad asked "How do you want me to cut it?" Mom answered, "I don't know..I don't really care" Dad took that comment and ran with it. He pretty much hacked the front of the tree down.

Too Blessed to Be Distressed

This sign now hangs in our kitchen closet. The Non-Christian translation goes something like, "We have so much junk that it doesn't all fit in one closet so I moved some of it upstairs"
Mom took a picture of the lunar eclipse. Great shot. You can see it, right?

If only it would snow

Mom went credit card happy during the L.L. Bean End of the Year Sale. We need it to snow so we can put these coats to good use!

Dad's scandelous Valentine's Day place setting. His menu: beef & boxers. The rest of us were scarred for life :) Ben is turning into quite the chef! He cooked TWO meals this week, "get well" cookies for Sara (she is recovering from shoulder surgery) AND this cake!!
Mom received pretty tulips from her ValentineKent is back from student teaching for a 4 day weekend!

Pops goes High Tech

We skimped on the candles. Maybe we didn't want to risk 49 candles burning the house down? Doctor "no-sugar-no-carbs-nothing-but-cardboard" ate a piece of cake!
It was Wes & Ben's idea to get Dad into the 21st century. He is now equipped with his very own ipod. Happy Birthday Dad!

Surprise!!

Mom planned a surprise birthday weekend for Dad! They left Friday afternoon & Dad had no idea where they were going.
Aren't they cute? Mom took him to a cabin for a quiet weekend in the woods. What he didn't know was that his four WONDERFUL kids were going to surprise him the next day. We had a nice lunch together.
Wes was going solo; Sara was away with friends for the weekend. After lunch we went on a hike and saw HUGE tadpoles. They were definitely getting their daily work outs in. They were big and we needed a net badly.Walkin and talkin"Hercules! Hercules!" Ready, set, JUMP!

It was a fun family day- and great weather in the upper 60's!
