Girls Rule

Wednesday was Comforter Day at the dry cleaners. Mom remembered it at 6:50pm and the store closed at 7pm so we made a mad dash for them. It's safe to say we don't share the same style around here. We bought these shoes recently.. looks like Mom is headed on a rafting trip & Kait to a cocktail party.
Anna just finished up a 2 week internship at the hospital. We heard things like, "Oh Dad! I forgot one highlight of my day.. I got to touch a placenta!" She and Dad were carpool buddies.Mom has turned into a professional Japanese Beatle catcher. She carries around a Tupperware full of oil and dead beatles and catches them on trees and other plants.

Burn Baby, Burn

Anna, thank you for your help and servant's heart. However, there's been a unanimous decision that it's better for you to use your gifts elsewhere. We're sorry that you've inherited Mom's "cooking by smell" trait. None of us were big fans of the broccoli on Sunday. We could've just licked an ash tray. Ben saved the day with green beans!

Won't You Be My Neighbor?

Sometimes life is hard and you have to learn to roll with it. Kait just finished up a 10 day house sitting job on the lake... tough at times for sure. There are questions like, "Which TV should I watch today?" or "Should I swim or kayak first?" Her house mate was AbbeyA group got together for dinner on Saturday. Check out the plate: a honker of a burger, brat, Greek potatoes, broccoli salad.
We also made key lime pie ice cream. Kent officially announced that it was his and Kait's "speciality" Come on over and give it a try! The neighbors from up the road came and hung out on the dock on Sunday afternoon. They seemed pretty jealous of the place.

Told You So

Last night Dad fired up the grill to cook some steak. He said dinner was at 6:30 and as 6pm rolled around he started to feel the time crunch. The rest of the dinner party didn't quite feel the crunch as you can see from this video. Dr. Dad came in to tell us to get back on task, we had a deadline to meet!! We're not sure how Mom and Dad's marriage has survived her love for the Beach Boys, but somehow is has.
We became more efficient and dinner started right at 6:30. Dad's steaks were perfect. Just right. Beach-Boy-Lovin-Mom's chicken turned out a little differently. Guess he told you so.

Gloria a Dios

Our church has a led a vacation bible school for the past 4 years for children in a nearby town. Mom, Sara and Kait were tour group leaders. We butchered songs by trying to sing them in Spanish, but we were also able to love them and teach them about Jesus! Here is Sara with her group. They were big fans of the bunny ear pose. The excited group leader of tour bus 5!!Special thanks to Rachel C (also the professional cookie maker ) for being the photographer all week!

Nice Bifocals

We'd like to extend a "Happy Father's Day" to our Pops. We enjoyed a nice lunch together and watched Dad open presents and try to see through his new bifocals. Bifocals = old people.
Oliver paid attention to the man of the hour, his Grandpops. We love you Dad! Happy Father's Day.

Sunday Swim

We set out to have a nice, relaxing Sunday afternoon by the pool Anna is sporting her 70's look. We like to call her Wendy Peffercorn from the movie, The Sandlot. If you don't know who Wendy Peffercorn is go and watch The Sandlot. You haven't really lived until you've seen it.Mom bought these chairs and it sorta feels like you're on Apollo 16 when you sit in it.
We were all having fun until Dad found a spot of algae. One day the pool is perfect and the next it's got a spot of algae and he considers filling the whole pool with dirt and making a tennis court. His pool partner came to the rescue
Never try to relax by the pool with somebody who's obsessive and compulsive. This is the view that the rest of us like to have. Our friends from church, the Wilson family, came to swim and eat dinner. This is one of their boys, Timmy. He was pool-ready at all times.

Ode to Facial Hair

Year: 1980 Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear, did he really have this much hair?
Year: 1981 To the North they made a dash, traded the beard for a 'stacheYear: 1991 Along came children and little time, he knew his beard had hit it's prime.Face stayed bare till 2008 while camping with Kait.
Mom saw the stubble and her love for beards began to bubble.
As hot weather came on fast, we knew the beard would not last.
Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear, Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair.

New Gadgets

This may not be a new gadget for most of you (okay, probably all of you. We don't have cable either) Ben is the first one in the family to buy a cell phone. This makes him an official cool guy. Call him, but only if you have Verizon or after 9pm. He is very strict with his minutes...at least for now... We found out that pool supplies can serve two purposes. Chips enjoyed the backscratch.
