Christmas Eve

We spent Christmas Eve with the Parker side of the family. Here's car #1, happy before hitting the road. Little did they know they'd be jamming to the hippie band, The Allman Brothers, the whole way. Driver for car #2. She would've worn them the whole way, but she couldn't see all that great with them on.
Happy Anna.. and this was BEFORE Aunt Martha gave her the big talk about why Anna shouldn't get her nose pierced. Opening presents!
Gran with 3 of her 4 children. Ron, Martha and Chuck. We were just missing Mike!

Extreme (Gingerbread) Home Makeover

We decorated gingerbread houses tonight. There were two teams.. team "Why'd you do that?!" and team "Excellence" Looks like Big Pops was cleaning his glasses to make sure he could compete in top shape. Team Why'd you do that?! was off to a quick start
Team excellence took the slow and steady routeThey hit a rough patch when their house fell apart. Dad was trying to hold it together.Going, going...GONEPops looked full of Christmas cheer, but don't let the hat fool you- he (along with Ben) left halfway through. They couldn't handle the pressure. Or maybe the santa hat cut off the circulation to Dad's fat head and he had to go take it easy. Thanks to Mom's work behind the scenes, team Why'd you do that?! finished their houseTeam excellence and their houseThis is a shot of the other team's house, but it wasn't finished yet. Mom went on to spruce it up even more.

Last night was Anna's (super-long-felt-like-it-would-never-end) chorus concert. Ben is home for good. Here are the guys listening to Grateful Dead songs
We haven't had our new microwave for even a year and it's broken! Now you have to hold the button down to heat things up. Popping popcorn just got a whole lot harder.

Burn, Baby, Burn

Anybody want some sugar cookies? Kait was baking cookies, but got sucked into watching the TV show "Kitchen Nightmares" (How appropriate!) with Mom. It was a good thing Anna came downstairs. The kitchen was smoked full of smoke and we had all the doors and windows open. Anna put the cookies on the back porch to help them cool off. OOPS!

The Great Debate

Hunting for the perfect Christmas tree has always been a big deal. We each look around for a good tree and if we find one we call everyone together to vote on it. There has to be almost 100% agreement on the tree in order for it to pass. Most of the time a few people get so bored with looking at trees they'll agree to anything.
How 'bout this one?Maybe THIS was the year to go for the Charlie Brown tree? The winner! It took a good while to get all of the strands of lights to work. At the beginning we didn't have a single strand that lit up all the way.The life of the partyOur 2007 Christmas tree! We've gotta admit, we've seen better years, but Mom said this tree needed loving. It's kind of like those ugly dogs at the pound. Every dog needs a home.Maybe we'll go for the 9 footer next year?
